A family firm....
Ken and Peggy Wanless began the firm in
1968 under the name of KRA & PW Wanless. Under Ken’s
direction the firm grew and quickly established an
enviable reputation for high quality building work. In the
main, the men he employed where all local, and of the old
stock of apprentice served craftsmen.
Peter Kinver joined the firm in 1979
having just completed his carpentry apprenticeship; he
became a successful carpenter in his own right, and then
in the early 90s was invited to become a partner and
manager. When Ken and Peggy retired in 1998, Peter and his
wife Gill bought the firm outright and then later changed
the name to the new trading name of Wanless PK Ltd.
The current workforce of 18 local men are
all fully employed, and the majority have worked for the
firm for many years keeping a continuity and family
feeling among the firm.
When you ring the office the first person
you usually speak to is Heather the firm’s secretary, an
asset to the firm with her infectious laugh and easy
manner - Heather is Ken & Peggy’s daughter,
keeping the family theme going. |
